Our Story

What started as a guest and chef relationship at Mister Jiu's in San Francisco turned into something extraordinary when Nishaan, Brandon, and Moni came together over a cup of coffee. As they say, the rest was history.... 

The name Choy has several thoughtful meanings depending on the dialect in China. Our meaning is bit more personal. We all have that one person that unknowingly makes a significant impact on how we enjoy the pleasures in life. Our founder, Moni, refers to this person as Uncle Choy. Whether it was traveling around the world to seek out the most creative cuisine or appreciating fine wine and dynamic cocktails, Uncle Choy never failed to inspire.

Our mission at Choy is to bring nostalgic Chinese American flavors utilizing local Tennessee ingredients and modern cooking techniques. Choy believes that this cuisine should be served in ceremony; our dining room boasts grand mid-20th century Shanghai art-deco design that transports you back to the Golden Age era.
